NEW BUSINESS:
Addressed Colin Farrell's e-mail enquiry re: membership with BCGA. Wayne Zaiser has explained our club's position to Colin.
Introduction of new format (Gary Ofner) for Match Play this year which will be further discussed at the next meeting. The intent is to have a proper seeded bracket format with round robin play to begin elimination. There are 48 members this year which translates into 12 groups consisting of 4 players per group.
The 4 lowest handicaps (1 thru 4) will be group 1. The next 4 lowest handicaps (5 thru 8) will be group 2, the next 4 lowest handicaps (9 thru 12) will be group 3 and so on through to group 12 (45 thru 48).
Each group will be responsible to play all 3 round robin matches within
the time period of the first 4 tournaments which ends with the tournament
at the Falls on May 8/04. Members will be able to play required matches
outside of the Hibernian golf tournaments.
At the conclusion of this round robin format, there will be 12 group winners who will continue on in a single elimination seeded bracket format (similar to NCAA college b-ball). Group winners 1 thru 4 will have the opening byes and group winners 5 thru 12 will play off. This will then leave 8 group winners left for quarter-final play, after that 4 group winners for semi-final play, and then on to the final match.
In addition to Match Play, the club would like to try and introduce a second format to determine Mr.Hibernian based on a money list system.
Each tournament will have a money purse(imaginary $$$) like the PGA tours and will be determined by either low gross or low net scores. Also included in the Money Scoring title will be $$$"s assigned to winners of KP's, Special events and low putts. This will be finalized at the next meeting. Updates will be given prior to each tournament and members will have access to this info on our web site.
Under New Business we are also looking at the possibility of individual and group photographs for our Hibernian members.
Next Meeting: Feb.9/04…location to be determined.
