Problem @ Swan-E-Set:
Wayne Z. spoke with Paul Nijjer last year and booked Aug.11/02. Earlier this year Daryl contacted them and advised verbally we would have 36 golfers. Since the number of members attending did not change, we did not contact them believing that the date was confirmed. Some courses do not require a deposit (ie. Osoyoos road trip) so additionally the "trigger mechanism" to confirm in advance was also a factor.
Daryl will be in touch with the Swan-E-Set representatives this week and will report back at the next meeting advising Swan-E-Set's position and what they will be willing to do for us in the future.

NEW BUSINESS:

Addressed Colin Farrell's e-mail enquiry re: membership with BCGA. Wayne Zaiser has explained our club's position to Colin.

Introduction of new format (Gary Ofner) for Match Play this year which will be further discussed at the next meeting. The intent is to have a proper seeded bracket format with round robin play to begin elimination. There are 48 members this year which translates into 12 groups consisting of 4 players per group.
The 4 lowest handicaps (1 thru 4) will be group 1. The next 4 lowest handicaps (5 thru 8) will be group 2, the next 4 lowest handicaps (9 thru 12) will be group 3 and so on through to group 12 (45 thru 48).
Each group will be responsible to play all 3 round robin matches within the time period of the first 4 tournaments which ends with the tournament at the Falls on May 8/04. Members will be able to play required matches outside of the Hibernian golf tournaments.
At the conclusion of this round robin format, there will be 12 group winners who will continue on in a single elimination seeded bracket format (similar to NCAA college b-ball). Group winners 1 thru 4 will have the opening byes and group winners 5 thru 12 will play off. This will then leave 8 group winners left for quarter-final play, after that 4 group winners for semi-final play, and then on to the final match.

In addition to Match Play, the club would like to try and introduce a second format to determine Mr.Hibernian based on a money list system.
Each tournament will have a money purse(imaginary $$$) like the PGA tours and will be determined by either low gross or low net scores. Also included in the Money Scoring title will be $$$"s assigned to winners of KP's, Special events and low putts. This will be finalized at the next meeting. Updates will be given prior to each tournament and members will have access to this info on our web site.

Under New Business we are also looking at the possibility of individual and group photographs for our Hibernian members.

Next Meeting: Feb.9/04…location to be determined.

Location: Donegal's Pub

Present: T. Nebert; J.Matusiak; R.Regan-Pollock; R. Villeneuve; D.Mulligan; B.Kobzey; C.Caldwell; R.Johnson; E.McWaters; W.Zaiser; D.Baldwin; B.Taylor; D.Kimoto

Treasurer's Report: W.Zaiser:

- Opening balance is $5,988.40
- Total revenue for 2005 season expected to be $10,224.00
- Total expenses for 2005 season expected to be $10,050.00
- Deposits for 5 courses have been made

Club Captain's Report: T.Spring not available.

Tournament Directors Report: W.Zaiser

- Nothing new to report - all is on schedule

New Business:

1) Match Play - W. Zaiser: - many club members wish to play more matches in 2005

Suggestion: Most tournaments this year will have pre-arranged groups. There will be single matches played within the foursomes for the first 10 tournaments. The top point getters will play off for the club championship at the last tournament(s). Maximum 8 matches. 70% of individual handicaps will be used to determine handicaps for the matches.
A win is worth 2 points, a tie is 1 point and a loss is 0.

Any suggestions/alternatives to the above will be greatly considered and greatly appreciated.

2) Road trip - E. McWaters: - The Executive Inn in Kamloops is offering a group rate for 40 or more. Ed will check into what that rate will be.
Also there may be a chance to get a better rate at The Dunes.

3) Non-member Sponsors and tournament prizes - E. McWaters - It was suggested that non-members who sponsor tournaments should be eligible to win prizes in those tournaments rather than just special events. To be voted at next meeting.

Old Business:

B. Kobzey - Handicaps need to be better updated. Discussion on how to do this effectively and efforts will be made to have current handicaps on tournament dates.

Next meeting will be Monday, Feb 21 @ 7:00 PM at Donegal's Pub. All members welcome to attend (note: we had a record attendance at this meeting!). Good turnouts ensures most issues are addressed.

Meeting adjourned
